With evil designs on Jamuna’s wealth Harichand fakes a suicide leaving behind a note implicating her. Her husband, Rana, mistakenly convinced of her infidelity leaves her taking with him her infant son Roop (Shammi Kapoor) Jamuna adopts Kailash, Harichand’s son and another girl Neeta (Asha Parekh in her debut film), whom she sends to Europe for further studies. Her wish is to get Kailash and Neeta married. But when Neeta meets Roop, now the leader of a popular band, things go haywire. Neeta and Roop fall instantly in love. Harichand now introduces his younger son Sohan, into Jamuna’s household, masquerading as Roop, her real son. But the winsome twosome, prove more than a match for Harichand’s evil plans. Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh went on to scintillate movie audiences of the 60’s and were considered one of the most bankable and likeable screen pairs.
